As in Zuma, the main purpose of Zuma's Revenge! is to remove the string ball rolling by matching balls of the same color. Players control a frog that shoots colored balls on strings. Frogs were always pointing towards the mouse. When three or more balls of the same color will be matched together, they are cleared from the playfield. The gap can be formed through which the player can shoot the ball more or gather fruits. The gap is automatically closed if the ball at both ends of the gaps are (or become) the same color, potentially causing a chain reaction.
The rope continues to roll the ball along their tracks to the emblem of the skull at the end. If they reach the symbol, the player lose a life, and the game ends if a player has lost his entire life. The string is always "encouraged" by the last ball of string, so any ball that is not connected to the string at the back does not move itself.
In any mode except the Challenge mode, players must reach the point of common purpose to achieve the "Zuma", at which point the game ball to stop adding to the string (s). Players then have to remove all the balls the rest of the playfield to move to the next level. In Challenge mode, players have three minutes to score as many points as possible, collect powerups that increase his score multiplier along the way.
Periodically, the ball will randomly display the power-ups that players can gather to destroy the ball. Zuma's Revenge! introduced two new types of levels for the series. Some features of the two lily pads that frogs can jump between, while others regulate the level of frog in the horizontal or vertical line and have it slide side to side rather than spinning into the goal.
In the game's Adventure and the Frog Heroic mode, the player proceeds through a Polynesian-style island ruled by gods Zhaka thy anger. Every five levels, players are given a checkpoint where it can restart the game if all the lives lost. At the end of each island, the player met with tiki gods and the gods had to face a boss battle.
